Overall did a great job and we are happy with the final finish and new caps on both our chimneys. The landscaping got somewhat mashed, but not sure what they could have done to avoid that. Communication was very good, and the crew was respectful and pleasant to deal with. They were more costly than some other quotes I received but they actually showed up and got the work done in a very timely manner. I would recommend them.

Rufino took the time to explain each step of the project and why certain things were done. He also provided before and after pictures of the chimney work. The crew was very friendly and did a great job protecting our home during the project as well as cleaning up after the work was done. We had a very positive experience working with the people at Chimney Monkey. We appreciate the hard work and care that was put into the project.
    Thank you!

I can’t say enough good things about this company and, more importantly, its people. I’m genuinely glad to see places like this still exist. Dayna in the office and Brad in the field were both friendly, knowledgeable, understanding, helpful, and extremely responsive. On top of that, they both went above and beyond to help me through a difficult and time-sensitive situation. They were absolutely great to work with, and it genuinely made me happy to see people provide this kind of service. It’s rare these days.

Chimney Monkey was quick to come give us a quote & scheduled work in a timely manner.
The team of 3 finished replacing our chimney crown in a day and a half. The office was easy to work with & responsive to phone calls.

We are mostly happy with the work they did. There were a few things that could have been done in a tidier manner (some concrete smears were left behind on our red brick & the metal flashing underneath the concrete is slightly uneven on 2 of the corners). This is our first chimney crown replacement, so I have no idea if these are normal things or not.

Update: I originally rated them 4/5 stars but changed the rating to 5/5. They were very quick to follow up about the bits we weren’t totally happy with. Brad came today to visually inspect the work & called me to explain what I was seeing. I’m satisfied with the service we received & would definitely use them again.

They came and did a great job doing some repairs. They did our chimney inspection before we bought our house and gave us a detailed report that helped us get a credit. They are easy to work with and will use them for future check ups and sweeps!

Tech was very thorough and very helpful. Even though we have more work to be done, he was very clear on details of it all.

Update: Work was done by Rufino and his crew. They were quick, detailed, and service-focused. Very clean during and after the job (exterior work is messy). They did great.

We are very happy with their service. My family had just moved into our home, and wanted to have our fireplace inspected and cleaned, as it looked like it needed it before use. I am glad we did after seeing the camera footage and the pictures of the inside, as they were able to show us how dirty it was, and point out all the safety issues the previous homeowners hadn’t taken care of that would have caused us many more problems down the line. Thank you so much for your help!

I am truly impressed with the service I received. The removal of the old stove was challenging (even needed some tile replacement, which they took care of immediately) and installation of the new stove was not easy either. The crew was super considerate, super clean and professional. I can say only good things about these guys. Brett was great at finding me the right stove (for a best price possible) and took the time to explain how to operate it. I will definitely book Chimney Monkey for more work I'm planning in the near future. PS. AWESOME COMPANY NAME!

Outstanding, talented, hardworking team. Installed flue liner, repaired smoke chamber. They covered our furniture, tented their workspace, took care to protect the house during the job. High quality work. I'd recommend these guys every day of the week.
Excellent experience with Chimney Monkey and we definitely recommend them to anyone looking for professional chimney services. Danya was responsive to our inquiry and helpful with our questions when we were setting up our appointment via email. Our technician was totally professional -- Mike was timely, helpful and informative, and he took the time to explain to us a problem he found in our chimney during the inspection. We felt we could absolutely trust his assessment and recommendations. There was no sales pitch, just an upfront and honest assessment. We feel much safer having had our chimney inspected with Chimney Monkey and we will not hesitate to hire them again. Great customer service and overall positive experience. Thank you!

Chimney Sweep and Repair in Long Grove, IL

Long Grove is large wooded lots, a historic village center, and custom houses set well back from the road. Houses here tend to carry several fireplaces, and the combination of tall stacks and heavy tree cover produces a particular set of findings. Our shop is minutes away in Buffalo Grove. Call 847-994-4388 or book online. We serve the 60047 zip code and the surrounding communities, including Buffalo Grove, Kildeer, Deer Park, Hawthorn Woods and Lake Zurich.

    Several Flues, Inspected Separately

A Long Grove house with fireplaces in the great room, the study and a bedroom does not have three chimneys. It usually has one or two stacks carrying all of them, plus the furnace and water heater. Each flue is a separate system with its own liner and its own condition, and a chimney that looks sound from the driveway can have one flue in good shape and another with tile missing or a nest that has been there for years.

We inspect and document flue by flue, so the report tells you which are ready to use, which need work before the next fire, and which you can reasonably leave alone. It is also why relining two or three flues in one visit costs considerably less than doing them one at a time across different years, because access and setup are most of the job.

    Tree Canopy, Debris and Draft

Long Grove keeps its trees, and that is part of why people live here. It also means chimney tops spend decades under branches. Leaves and twigs build up on the cap and in the flue, an open or damaged cap becomes an invitation to squirrels, raccoons and chimney swifts, and overhanging limbs disturb the air above the termination.

That last one shows up as a fireplace that drafts cleanly most days and pushes smoke into the room when the wind is up, which owners almost always read as a dirty chimney. It is usually geometry and obstruction. We measure the termination height and check what is growing over it, and a proper cap with a spark arrestor is the cheapest thing that keeps animals and debris out in a village like this one.

    Tall Stacks and Safe Access

Large houses on wooded lots mean tall chimneys and steep roofs, and the cost of reaching one safely is a real share of any work on it. Some of our technicians hold SPRAT rope-access certification, so we can reach stacks and pitches that would otherwise need scaffolding. For the homeowner that usually means the inspection and the repair happen sooner and without a staging bill.

What We Repair and Maintain in Long Grove

    • Level 1 and Level 2 chimney inspections — a documented condition report on the flue, firebox and chimney exterior, with photographs.
    • Chimney cleaning and sweeping — creosote removal and draft correction on wood-burning fireplaces and stoves.
    • Chimney relining — for cracked, offset or missing clay tile.
    • Obstruction and animal removal — and the cap that stops it happening again.
    • Chimney caps and spark arrestors — stock, custom and multi-flue caps sized to the flue.
    • Crown repair and replacement — with a drip edge, so water leaves the chimney instead of soaking into it.
    • Flashing repair and replacement — including steep-roof and slate details.
    • Brick and mortar repair and tuckpointing — repointing joints before water gets behind the brick.
    • Firebox and smoke chamber repair — parging voids and rebuilding deteriorated fireboxes.
    • Water heater and furnace chimney liners — correctly sized stainless liners for appliance flues.
    • Gas fireplace and gas log service — valves, log sets, ignition and venting, by NFI-certified technicians.
    • Chimney leak repair — finding the actual entry point before anything gets sealed.
    • Dryer vent cleaning — including long and rooftop runs.

    Areas We Cover

All of Long Grove, including the historic village center, the wooded lots off Old McHenry and Checker Road, and the areas bordering Buffalo Grove, Kildeer, Deer Park, Hawthorn Woods and Lake Zurich.

    Why Our Inspections Are Paid

We charge for inspections because the inspection is the service: we document what is actually happening with photographs and, where conditions allow, a camera survey of the flue, then explain what is urgent, what is maintenance and what can reasonably wait. A free estimate prices a known job. A diagnostic inspection determines what the job actually is. The report is yours whether or not we do the repair.

    Long Grove Chimney Questions

We have three fireplaces. Does the price multiply by three?

No. Access and setup are a large share of the cost, so additional flues in the same visit are priced below the first one. Tell us how many you have when booking and we will give you the number before the technician arrives.

Our fireplace smokes into the room on windy days. Is the flue dirty?

Sometimes. Under this much tree cover it is at least as often height and overhanging branches. We measure the termination and check what is above it. If the chimney is short, the fix is usually an extension or a different cap.

Can you work on a tall chimney without scaffolding?

Often yes. Some of our technicians are SPRAT-certified in rope access, which lets us reach stacks and steep roofs safely without staging.

How much does a chimney sweep cost in Long Grove, IL?

A chimney sweep runs $300 to $350 and includes the Level 1 inspection. An inspection on its own is $200 to $300, and the same range covers a utility chimney serving a furnace or water heater. A Level 2 inspection with a camera survey of the flue is around $300. Typical rates as of September 2026.

Do you charge for the inspection?

Yes. You are paying for a documented answer: photographs, a camera survey of the flue where conditions allow, and a written explanation of what needs correcting now versus what can wait. That report is yours whether or not we do the repair.
