The team of 3 finished replacing our chimney crown in a day and a half. The office was easy to work with & responsive to phone calls.
We are mostly happy with the work they did. There were a few things that could have been done in a tidier manner (some concrete smears were left behind on our red brick & the metal flashing underneath the concrete is slightly uneven on 2 of the corners). This is our first chimney crown replacement, so I have no idea if these are normal things or not.
Update: I originally rated them 4/5 stars but changed the rating to 5/5. They were very quick to follow up about the bits we weren’t totally happy with. Brad came today to visually inspect the work & called me to explain what I was seeing. I’m satisfied with the service we received & would definitely use them again.
Update: Work was done by Rufino and his crew. They were quick, detailed, and service-focused. Very clean during and after the job (exterior work is messy). They did great.

Chimney Cleaning in Winnetka
Winnetka houses tend to have more fireplaces than anywhere else we work. It is not unusual to find four or five in one home: living room, library, primary bedroom, and sometimes a kitchen hearth that has not been opened since the 1940s. Chimney cleaning here is a whole-house job, and the flues that never get used are frequently the ones with the problems, because nobody notices a nest or a collapsed tile in a fireplace nobody lights.
Chimney Repair and Relining
Most of the village east of Green Bay Road was built before 1940, and the original clay liners in those stacks are now cracked, offset or missing sections. Relining is the common chimney repair here, along with crown replacement and flashing. On the larger houses we often reline two or three flues in a single visit, which is considerably cheaper than doing them one at a time in separate years.
Wood to Gas Conversions
Plenty of Winnetka owners want the fireplaces working again without running a wood operation across four rooms. Inspection Before Renovation

Winnetka Chimney Questions
We have five fireplaces. Do they all need sweeping every year?
Flues in regular use need annual sweeping. Unused flues need annual inspection rather than sweeping, because the risks there are water, nesting and liner failure rather than creosote.
Can an unused fireplace be made usable again?
Often yes, after inspection. The usual work is relining, a firebox rebuild and a new damper, and we will tell you honestly if it is not worth doing.
Is it cheaper to reline several flues at once?
Yes. Set-up, staging and access account for a large part of the cost, so doing them together saves considerably.
Should I inspect the chimney before a renovation?
Yes, and before the walls are closed. Structural or venting problems discovered afterwards are far more expensive to correct.
Do you work on kitchen hearths and beehive ovens?
We inspect them and can advise. Whether they can be returned to use depends on the flue and on clearances to combustible framing.

Flat rates as of July 2026: a chimney sweep is $335 with the Level 1 inspection included, a Level 1 inspection on its own is $205, the same rate covers a utility chimney serving a furnace or water heater, and a Level 2 inspection with a camera survey of the flue is $295. A fireplace liner runs roughly $200 per linear foot, so most complete liner jobs come in between $3,000 and $4,000. Masonry repairs are quoted in writing after inspection.
