Chimney Repair in Northbrook
Northbrook is our home territory, and most of what we do here is chimney repair on housing built between 1955 and 1980: split-levels, colonials and ranches with exterior brick chimneys on the gable end. Exterior chimneys are the ones that suffer. They are cold on all four sides, they take the full weather load, and the flue never warms enough to keep condensate from soaking into the tile. Spalled brick at the top third of the stack, a cracked crown and a rusted damper are the standard set of findings.
Fireplace Installation and Replacement
A lot of Northbrook homes still have their original zero-clearance metal fireplace from the 1970s. Those units have reached the end of their service life, and parts are long gone. Can a 1970s metal fireplace be repaired?
Rarely. Replacement parts for discontinued zero-clearance units are generally unavailable, and a modern sealed insert is safer and far more efficient.

Repair quotes follow an inspection, and the inspection is a flat fee. We do not price masonry sight unseen.

Flat rates as of July 2026: a chimney sweep is $335 with the Level 1 inspection included, a Level 1 inspection on its own is $205, the same rate covers a utility chimney serving a furnace or water heater, and a Level 2 inspection with a camera survey of the flue is $295. A fireplace liner runs roughly $200 per linear foot, so most complete liner jobs come in between $3,000 and $4,000. Masonry repairs are quoted in writing after inspection.
